Hi Folks!
I'm hoping to get back over to one of the Galloway Hill Lochs in the next week or two to do a spot of fly fishing and do an over night camp. If the Loch has trees I think I will take my Hammock, but of I decide to go to one in the hill I will be using a tent. I expect to go on a Thursday afternoon and come back home Friday afternoon.
More details to follow once I can confirm my dates.

Penny Stoves from energy drink cans.
Last year I started making some penny stoves. At first I started using coca cola cans to make them, but I soon found out that I preferred using the smaller energy drink cans and they worked well. They are very light and good to keep as a backup. I also used one during a power cut last winter and it worked great. My preferred fuel for these stoves is Bio Ethanol, but other people prefer using Methylated Spirits.
A few pictures below to show you the finished stove.

Ullapool
A little bit of information on where I will be going on a family camping trip later this month. We will probably head back to Ullapool and camp at Broomfield Campsite. This is a large campsite with great facilities and will make a perfect base for touring up the North West Coast of Scotland.
Ullapool is a small town of around 1,500 inhabitants in Ross-shire, Scottish Highlands. Despite its small size, it is the largest settlement for many miles around and a major tourist destination.
From Ullapool you can get a Caledonian MacBrayne ferry over to Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides which is also known as the Western Isles
